Unlike the core components of a headlight retrofit such as the projectors, ballasts, or bulbs: shrouds are a non-essential and are simply designed to enhance the finished look of the conversion. Shrouds mount to the front face of the projector to hide from view not only the raw body of the projector itself, but also any hardware or construction materials used to mount it.
Most early retrofits were completed using shrouds taken from OEM headlamps. In comparison, our shrouds have a much stronger chrome finish that wont fade or rub off easily from being handled. Our shrouds are designed to mount easily with their integrated clips and our selection of centric rings in various sizes whereas OEM shrouds have no integrated and universal mounting solutions. Like OEM shrouds though, ours are also constructed of high-grade plastic to withstand the higher than average temperatures that often occur within the environments of sealed automotive headlamps.
Choosing a shroud for an application is a process based on mere style preference. Our shrouds are designed to fit projectors with both 2.5” and 3” lenses and are more or less universal across all brands of projectors. We continue adding new shrouds to our line that have been inspired by our client’s independent designs and adaptations of existing original-equipment designs.
